Building Permits and Inspections

The Building Permits and Inspections Department is responsible for issuing permits and conducting inspections to enforce state building codes and city ordinances regulating building, mechanical, plumbing, demolition of structures, septic systems, rental housing, and manufactured housing.

NEW! Payment Update: Beginning on January 1, 2021, the city will begin passing along fees charged by merchants for the use of credit card and other electronic forms of payment. Payments made by cash or check will incur no additional charge. To review if your payment option will incur a fee, please check our payment options page.


There are now two ways to get permits needed for building projects in the City of Rosemount.

  • For Residential projects that require no plan review (like roofing, windows, electrical work) AND for commercial electrical permits, apply now using the new online permit application
