Special Care for Electronics
Electronic products containing a cathode ray tube (such as TVs and computer monitors) may not be placed in the garbage.
They can contain 2 to 8 pounds of lead and other hazardous materials that can affect your health and the environment if incinerated or landfilled.
What to Do?
Households may drop off their electronics for a fee to a certified electronics recycler (except The Recycling Zone – Please Note: The Recycling Zone now charges $10 for each TV, but there is no fee for other household electronics). Call first for days and hours, electronic items accepted and fees charged. Business electronics recycling is regulated.
For more information visit the website of the Dakota County Environmental Resources Department. Other electronic recyclers can be found in the Dakota County Recycling Guide.
