What do I do if I have a code complaint about a property in my neighborhood?

If you have a complaint about a code violation, report it using our Issue Reporter or contact the Code Compliance Inspector at 651-322-2093.

The following process is then followed:

Step One: The Code Compliance Inspector will receive and record the complaint.

Step Two: An inspection of the property will occur to ensure there is a violation.

Step Three: A notice of the code violation is left with the resident, or on the door, by phone, or by mail.

Step Four: A date is set for re-inspection.

Step Five: The property in violation is re-inspected.

** Steps two through five may be repeated up to three times, if necessary, to gain compliance with the City Code regulations. If City Code compliance cannot be achieved, a criminal citation may be issued with a scheduled court date.
