Tell us why Rosemount is the BEST Place to Live!

Rosemount is a great place to live, according to Money Magazine. The “best” in fact, in the south metro area and one of just three Minnesota cities highlighted. The list, published annually since 1987, ranks the top 50 places to live in the United States. This year, they expanded their search to include cities and towns with populations ranging from 25,000 up to 500,000. Rosemount is the second smallest city on the list and came in at number 32 nationwide.

“While the lens changes from year to year, we’ve always focused on places with reasonable housing costs, great schools and a sense of community,” stated Samantha Sharf, Money’s Real Estate Editor.

According to their website, a group of two editors, six writers and research partner, Witlytic, compile data that looks at nearly 100 different metrics organized into nine categories:

  • Cost of living
  • Economic opportunity
  • Diversity
  • Education
  • Fun (aka amenities)
  • Housing market
  • Income & personal finances
  • Quality of life

In addition to noting the great school district, the article highlights the sense of community, local generosity, a great park system, enduring community events and a dedicated arts council.

“We are thrilled to be honored with this designation once again,” said Rosemount Mayor Bill Droste. “It reaffirms what we already know - that Rosemount is a great place to live. Our school district is second-to-none, our community is continuing to grow with both housing and business development, and we are committed to creating safe and connected neighborhoods for our residents to enjoy.”

Rosemount previously made the list in 2015 at #12, though that ranking compared towns with a population range of just 10,000 to 50,000. The 2021 list includes some big city competitors such as Scottsdale, Arizona (pop. 265,405); Boise, Idaho (pop. 235,233); Frisco, Texas (pop. 203,215); and Raleigh, North Carolina (pop. 457,476).
