Restaurant Revitalization Fund

The recently passed COVID-19 relief bill, The American Rescue Plan Act, provides $28.6 billion for the hard-hit industry through a Restaurant Revitalization Fund. The bill calls for grants equal to the amount of restaurants’ revenue losses, up to a maximum of $10 million per company and $5 million per location. Eligible companies cannot own more than 20 locations, and they can’t be publicly traded. The bill sets aside $5 billion for the smallest restaurants, those whose annual revenue is $500,000 or less. The Small Business Administration will begin to post information and guidance on the application process this spring. SBA’s current relief efforts can be found at www.sba.gov/coronavirusrelief, and more details about these program updates and new efforts the SBA will administer in the coming weeks.

Rollback of COVID-19 Restrictions

Executive Order (EO) 21-11 will began Monday, March 15, 2021 and does not have an end date. Effective March 31, 2021, at 11:59 p.m., larger venues, restaurants, gyms and pools will be able to expand their occupancy per the Stay Safe Guidance. Bars and restaurants can operate at 75% capacity, while gyms will be able to operate at 50% capacity. While public mask-wearing and social distancing requirements will remain, Minnesota will allow in-person work again. The state's work-from-home requirement for applicable businesses will be lifted April 15, but employers will be encouraged to allow workers to continue the practice.
